The City and County of Denver offers a competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. The salary for this position is $21.00 per hour. We also offer generous benefits for full‑time employees which include but are not limited to:

This is a limited position with an end date of one year from date of hire.

The City and County of Denver supports a hybrid workplace model. Employees are expected to work on‑site at their designated job location at least three (3) days per week, with off‑site work permitted as needed. Employees must perform all off‑site work within the state of Colorado.

NOTE:

Positions within the Office of the Medical Examiner and Department of Animal Protection do not qualify for remote or hybrid work arrangements and are expected to work in person on a full‑time basis.

We have three Public Health Ameri Corps / Community Health Worker Apprentice positions available for those interested in exploring a career in public and/or environmental health. Through supportive on‑the‑job learning and related classroom instruction using in‑person and virtual formats, the successful candidates will gain the skills and knowledge needed to advance into a public health career.

Certain requirements are required to be completed within a 1‑year on‑the‑job training period.

Specifically, in this role, you will:

• Conduct community outreach to individuals, communities, service providers, and groups.

• Assist individuals and communities in navigating health and social service systems.

• Implements individual and community assessments.

• Provide culturally and linguistically appropriate health education and information.

• Provide coaching and social support.

• Build professional relationships and networks with service providers across systems to understand client services and resources.

• Keep routine records, write reports, and completes forms.

• Comply with standard safety rules and procedures. Learns the industry standards, regulatory standards, operational processes, and other guiding professional practices.

• Along with all department staff, this position will actively participate on an emergency preparedness and response team to support DDPHE’s responsibilities outlined in the City’s Emergency Operations Plan.
