PSYCHOLOGIST I - Mental Health Hospital at Fort Logan
Role overview:
The Psychologist is responsible for individual therapy, group therapy, and family therapy. Group therapy is offered to all patients; materials are developed to meet patient-specific needs. The Psychologist develops individualized behavior plans, provides psychoeducation and staff training, monitors plans, documents in the electronic health record (EHR), and collaborates with the treatment team. They conduct comprehensive psychological testing, provide psychological expertise to treatment teams and hospital departments, contribute to training of externs and interns, participate in hospital-wide events and program development, and complete certification evaluations and court testimony.
- Provide individual, group, and family therapy as needed based on the treatment plan and collaboration with the treatment team.
- Develop group materials for patient-specific needs and lead group therapy sessions.
- Develop individualized behavior plans and provide psychoeducation and training to milieu staff for implementation.
- Monitor plans, document in the electronic health record, provide feedback to patients and the treatment team, and modify plans as needed.
- Perform comprehensive psychological testing and consult with treatment teams on referrals and results; provide psychological expertise to hospital departments and external stakeholders.
- Document regularly in the electronic health record and contribute to training of doctoral externs and predoctoral interns through seminars, supervision, co-facilitation, and mentoring.
- Contribute to hospital-wide events, in-service training, and program development; complete certification evaluations and provide court testimony as required.
- Participate in treatment planning and contribute to patient-specific goals; provide clinical guidance on goals, measurability, and progress by reviewing documentation and records, observing behavior, and synthesizing information.
- Attend weekly/monthly treatment plan meetings and participate in family meetings, discharge planning, and cross-team consultations.
- Create discipline-specific treatment goals and document progress in the EHR; provide clinical leadership to treatment teams and consult with multidisciplinary staff.
- Consult with external stakeholders as needed to support continuity of care (e.g., CMHH-FL staff, family, mental health centers, attorneys, and courts).
- Review the legal status of patients to determine eligibility for release, voluntary inpatient treatment, or involuntary treatment under Colorado Mental Health Statutes; communicate findings to the Court by letters, petitions, and expert testimony as needed.
- Perform psychological assessments including suicide risk, intellectual testing, adaptive abilities, personality measures, and comprehensive batteries; determine usefulness for treatment planning and disposition; administer testing, write reports, document in the EHR, and communicate results and recommendations to the team.
- CMHH-FL hosts predoctoral internships and externships; participate in interviewing and selection of externs/interns; contribute to didactic curriculum and supervision.
- Other duties as assigned include hospital-wide ad hoc activities and milieu support.
- Current, valid licensure as a Psychologist from the Colorado State Board of Psychologist Examiners.
- One (1) year of experience as a licensed psychologist or permitted psychologist.
- No substitutions.
- Previous or current state experience; experience completing comprehensive psychological assessments and/or civil certifications; clinical experience with inpatient, forensic, or SPMI populations.
- Age: incumbents must be at least 21 years of age.
