Position
Patient Advocate I – Orthopedic Centers of Colorado
Position OverviewThe Patient Advocate is responsible for ensuring the clinic meets required standards such as HIPAA, OSHA, compliance rules, and regulations against fraud and abuse. Assignments are based on broad goals, requiring considerable decision‑making and independent judgment in daily activities.
DescriptionThis role involves oversight of patient interaction processes, chart accuracy, appointment validations, pre‑registration, and facilitating effective communication with patients, staff, and providers.
Essential Functions- Eligibility check
- Fixing chart mistakes
- Phreesia appointment validations; cancelations/reschedules
- Pre‑registration
- Recognizing, greeting and registering patients politely and promptly
- Answering and handling all phone calls and voice messages in a pleasant manner
- Verifying current information status and collecting insurance, demographic information, and signatures as needed
- Minimum of two years’ experience in a healthcare setting
- Knowledge of medical office procedures
- Knowledge of computer systems and applications
- Excellent grammar, spelling and punctuation
- Skills operating business office machines
- Professional telephone etiquette
- Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with patients, employees and the public
