• Obtain blood and other samples, vital signs, and EKGs from patients.
• Process and ship pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic samples according to sponsor instructions.
• Prepare study supplies and source documents necessary for obtaining lab samples prior to patient treatment.
• Utilize electronic medical record (EMR) for source documentation.
• Maintain accurate freezer sample logs.
• Ensure proper maintenance and handling of EKG machines (clinic and sponsor).
• Interface with Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center (P/SL) interventional radiology for study‑required biopsies.
• Retrieve and prepare tumor biopsy samples as requested by the study sponsor.
• Maintain accurate records of sample acquisition and shipping; keep shipping and processing records in the patient’s study folder.
• Ensure lab kits and supplies for all active studies are adequate, up‑to‑date, and inventory is maintained.
• Schedule appropriate courier for sample shipments and arrange alternative drop‑off if late.
• Ensure adequate supply of dry ice for shipments.
• Respond to queries from study sponsor or contract lab regarding patient/sample data.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and workspace in all areas.
• Interface with P/SL laboratory colleagues about laboratories for research patients.
• Register patients and order labs in the P/SL Laboratory Information System.
• Obtain and maintain competency to perform moderately complex testing in the Drug Development Unit (DDU) lab.
• Interface with research nurses to ensure all research patients have correct lab kits prior to visits.

• A high school diploma, preferably technical or vocational training in laboratory or phlebotomy.
• A current BLS certification.
• Knowledge of OSHA requirements for safe handling of blood and body fluids.
• Skill in venipuncture and blood processing.
• Ability to multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment.
• At least one year of clinical laboratory and phlebotomy experience required.

Hourly pay range $20/hr - $27/hr
