Under general supervision the Mammography Technologist II performs duties directly involved with mammography (screening and diagnostic mammography) and a variety of technical procedures applying ionizing radiation for the purpose of detecting pathology. This position is responsible for performing needle localizations, stereotactic biopsies, and seed implant (if available on site). The Mammography Technologist II regulates the equipment used to expose the imaging receptor;

processes and organizes images. Additionally, this position operates equipment safely and maintains As Low as Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) standards while performing mammography and other types of radiological procedures. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

• Positions patients and operates mammography equipment to obtain optimal images, adjusting technical factors and compression as needed.
• Ensures patient identification, safety, and comfort, explaining procedures clearly and addressing questions or concerns with professionalism and compassion.
• Follows all MQSA, FDA, and ACR guidelines, including quality control testing, equipment performance checks, and documentation requirements.
• Collaborates with radiologists and breast imaging team to ensure accurate imaging and timely communication of results or next steps.
