The Juvenile Justice Therapist (Crossroads Clinician) will provide therapeutic interventions to youth aged 10-22 who are at‑risk or involved in the juvenile justice system. Interventions include individual and family counseling, clinical case management, office‑based and community‑based sessions (schools or home), and telehealth services.
Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required- Master’s degree in counseling, social work, psychology or a related field. >
- Skills in family therapy, crisis intervention, culturally competent interventions, cognitive behavioral therapy, child development, trauma, and abuse/neglect.
- Knowledge of stages of change, motivational interviewing, substance abuse, and episodes of care.
- Ability to work independently and as a strong team player; computer proficiency sufficient to use e‑mail and electronic charting.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Clinical licensure (LCSW, LPC, LMFT) preferred; licensure‑eligible (registration with DORA) required.
- Provide individual and family therapy; schedule allows flexibility for evening sessions; a 40‑hour work week is expected.
- Engage consumers in a strength‑based, trauma‑informed treatment process and goal setting; utilize appropriate interventions and refer to trauma‑specific treatment, wellness classes, and co‑occurring/substance use services as indicated.
- Meet required number of consumer service hours as determined by Program Manager.
- Provide pre‑screening to potential consumers and respond to referral sources within 48 hours.
- Identify risk factors, including lethality; collaborate with consumers to reach agreed outcomes and coordinate care with internal and external providers; maintain professional standards and follow up appropriately.
- Respond effectively to client needs and problems, initiating and maintaining positive interactions; respond within one workday to phone calls, e‑mail, and other requests.
- Work cooperatively with community agencies and internal partners such as the Juvenile Assessment Center, Jefferson County truancy court, schools, district court, juvenile probation department, diversion department, Division of Youth Services, Juvenile Behavioral Health court, and CYDC program.
- Complete all intake requirements with special studies code; document required fields in client database weekly.
- Maintain effective interpersonal relations with consumers, colleagues, management, visitors, and the public.
- Exhibit enthusiasm, courtesy, adaptability, flexibility, and spirit of cooperation in the work environment.
- Understand how trauma impacts the lives of the people served, ensuring interactions are consistent with the recovery process and reduce re‑traumatization.
- Participate in the Center’s training and educational programs on trauma‑informed care.
- Ensure delivery practices are guided by trauma‑informed care principles.
- Attend supervision sessions as agreed with supervisor; prepare agendas and report high‑risk cases.
- Participate in weekly team meetings and group consultations.
- Ensure that 95% of authorizations are accurate and timely.
- Submit 90% of paperwork by the due date.
Ensure fee collection meets team goal as determined by Program Manager. - Complete 95% of case closings within 90 days after last contact.
- Attend mandatory in‑services and comply with individualized training plan if required.
- Volunteer for Center committees task forces, or community committees as assigned.
- Attend clients’ psychiatric appointments as needed.

Salary- Salary Grade 51 – Master’s Unlicensed Clinician: $57,000 – $64,000
- Salary Grade 52 – Licensed Clinician (LCSW, LMFT, LPC): $70,000 – $77,200
- Salary ranges are based on a 1.0 FTE (full time equivalent) or 40 hours per week. Less than 40 hours per week will be prorated and adjusted to the appropriate FTE.
