The Work Unit

The Climate Change Program is housed in the Air Pollution Control Division. The Program assesses and develops climate related emission reduction strategies, manages the state’s greenhouse gas inventory, oversees emission reduction programs, and provides technical support on a variety of climate issues. The program conducts data queries, research on air quality studies and emission reduction strategies, analyzes data, coordinates air quality modeling efforts, forecasts GHG emissions, conducts stakeholder engagement, develops emission reduction strategies, generates technical documents, develops rule proposals, and advocates before the Air Quality Control Commission and other decision makers.

This work supports Colorado’s statutory, regulatory, policy, and program goals under state and federal laws. The Program also coordinates with EPA, the Colorado Energy Office, CDOT, PUC, the Governor’s Office and other air quality planning agencies.

What you will be doing

This position manages the programs and implements the strategic goals and priorities for the Climate Change Program within APCD. The position serves as the program manager and second level supervisor. The position develops policy recommendations for the Program and the Division, and serves as a primary department representative for climate related emission assessment and reduction strategies. The position also reviews specific legislative issues and other policy activities as assigned by the Deputy Director for Regulatory Affairs and Executive Management.
