** Location & Schedule
** The City and County of Denver supports a hybrid workplace model. Employees work where needed, at a job site several days a week and off-site as needed. In this position, you can expect to be in the office three days per week. Employees must work within the state of Colorado on their off-site  this position you can expect to work on site at the Webb Municipal Building at least three days per week.

** The Department of Finance (DOF) is responsible for the fiscal health of the city. The DOF Treasury Division fulfills the home-rule and statutory responsibilities for tax and fee revenue, assessment, collection and maintains Denver Motor Vehicle Title and registration functions.
** About Denver Treasury
** The Treasury Division administers, collects, and enforces city taxes, fees, and charges.  Treasury’s Tax Compliance and Audit Program ensures accurate tax reporting, promotes voluntary compliance, conducts audits, and protects Denver’s revenue base across all municipal taxes administered by the city.

These taxes are outlined on the Denver Business Tax Information website and include, but are not limited to:

* About this Role:

** The Treasury Division is seeking a Financial Manager to lead the Tax Compliance Audit Program, overseeing a team responsible for excise and business personal property tax audits, enforcement operations, and taxpayer compliance functions. This position manages professional auditing staff, audit supervisors, and the city staff responsible for voluntary disclosure agreements (VDAs), tax refunds, bankruptcies, and formal tax petitions.

This role ensures that Treasury’s audit and enforcement programs operate efficiently, consistently, and fairly under Denver’s tax ordinances, while promoting taxpayer education, transparency, and voluntary compliance.
** Additionally, as the Financial Manager, you can expect to:
*** Lead tax auditors, audit supervisors, and compliance staff
* Oversee the audit programs for all taxes administered by the City and County of Denver
* Direct daily audit operations, including case assignment, audit methodologies, and compliance initiatives
* Oversee Business Personal Property Tax audit functions
* Manage the voluntary disclosure program, ensuring fair and efficient taxpayer resolution
* Oversee tax refunds, bankruptcy filings, and tax petition processes, ensuring adherence to laws and timeliness
* Ensure compliance with Treasury policies, procedures, ordinances, and state statutes
* Set strategic goals, monitor performance metrics, and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and revenue integrity
* Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including taxpayers, advisors, city agencies, and executive leadership
