We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to lead our financial operations and ensure the accuracy and integrity of our accounting processes. The Accounting Manager leads Viably’s day-to-day and monthly accounting operations (GL, AP/AR, close, reporting), owns treasury and bank administration, and serves as ERP owner (annual upgrade lead and primary ticket liaison). In this pivotal role, you will oversee a team responsible for delivering clean, fast month-end close;

strong internal controls; cash visibility; and ongoing automation using ERP and AI-enabled tools. Responsibilities Accounting Operations & Close
  • Supervise accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.
  • Manage month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Enter payroll transactions and manage monthly commission calculations.
Treasury & Banking Administration
  • Primary bank administrator (users/roles/limits, templates, dual approvals, positive pay/ACH filters, fraud controls).
  • Support daily treasury tasks, including cash monitoring, ACH/wire support, and short-term cash forecasts.
  • Assist with the administration of company credit cards and review/approve expenses, receipt coding, and reconciliations.
  • Manage customer credit card payment process and administration of our third-party payment providers.
  • Manage sales tax setup, nexus monitoring, multi-state filings, exemption certificates, and audit inquiries.
Financial Reporting, Budgeting & Analysis
  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Produce consolidated reporting, KPIs, dashboards, branch-level P&Ls, and equipment margin reports for management.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process to ensure timely and accurate submission to the board.
Software, Technology, AI & Process Improvement
  • Serve as internal accounting software key user for accounting and lead software enhancements across the business.
  • Lead the annual accounting software upgrade, including planning, testing, UAT, training, and go-live coordination with an external consultant.
  • Identify automation opportunities using ERP tools, integrations, and AI-enabled features that improve accuracy and reduce manual effort.
  • Train staff in new ERP features, AI tools, and updated workflows.
Internal Controls & Compliance
  • Maintain strong internal control systems, including approval workflows, segregation of duties, and banking access controls.
  • Coordinate external financial audits and assist with audit requests.
  • Ensure compliance with sales tax, use tax, business licenses, and financial regulatory requirements across multiple states and Canada.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and professional growth.
  • Train staff on processes, internal controls, automation tools, and ERP best practices.

This role requires 3 days in-office at Viably headquarters in Denver.

What We Are Looking For
  • Builder mindset: simplifies, automates, and continuously improves.
  • AI-enabled productivity (Copilot, reconciliation/variance support, workflow automation) used safely within control and data‑security boundaries.
  • Advanced proficiency with Outlook, Teams, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Context switching & prioritization - manages multiple work streams without losing quality.
  • Strong GAAP and internal controls; advanced Excel; ERP power user (Acumatica preferred).
Required education and experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required, master’s degree is preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, 3+ years in a leadership/management role.
  • Sales tax and accounting management experience preferred.
  • Active CPA license highly preferred or in process.
