Private Client Services at BDO is a boutique practice within our firm. We provide a high‑touch approach to serve high‑net‑worth individuals, their families, family offices, C‑Suite executives, athletes, entertainers, and others with complex tax and financial structures. Our expertise spans estate, income, gift, and trust tax consulting and compliance; charitable giving and philanthropic foundations; executive compensation; and cash‑flow, retirement, and life insurance planning.

Job Summary

A Tax Senior Manager, Private Client Services (PCS), leverages educational background and professional experience, along with communication, time management, leadership and technical skills, to deliver tax compliance and consulting services to our high‑net‑worth clients.

Job Duties
  • Manage tax and consulting engagements and identify client needs, tax planning, and consulting opportunities.
  • Act as executive presence and primary client contact for preparation and presentation of issues and resolution.
  • Review complex individual, trust, estate, S‑Corp, foundation, partnership, and gift tax returns, providing written and verbal feedback.
  • Direct communication with government agencies for matters of highest complexity.
  • Identify technical issues, conduct advanced tax research, and develop recommendations for PCS leadership, clients, and advisors.
  • Expand understanding of tax concepts through client engagements and current developments.
  • Prioritize and review work to keep engagements on track.
  • Utilize strong analytical, research, and critical thinking skills to assist with client needs regarding individual and business decisions.
  • Assist with PCS/firm contribution responsibilities including billing, recruiting, attendance and participation in CPE activities and training.
  • Build and maintain relationships with BDO professionals and external sources.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Supervise associates and senior associates on all projects.
  • Review work prepared by associates and senior associates and provide review comments.
  • Train associates and seniors on current software tools.
  • Act as a career advisor to associates and senior associates.
  • Schedule and manage workload of associates and senior associates.
  • Provide verbal and written performance feedback.
Education & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required; major in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics preferred.
  • Master's in Accountancy or Taxation preferred.
Experience
  • Seven (7) or more years prior experience in accounting, finance, or law required.
  • Experience in private client service area required.
  • Prior supervisory experience required.
  • Experience working in public accounting preferred.
License / Certifications
  • Certified Public Accountant, Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent, Attorney (U.S. jurisdiction), or equivalent required.
  • Other professional degrees or certifications applicable to role preferred.
Software
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat required.
  • Experience with tax compliance process software (GoSystems, BNA Tax Planner, Go File Room , Sure Prep) preferred.
  • Experience with tax research tools (BNA Portfolio, CCH Intelli Connect, Checkpoint, Lexis Nexis) preferred.
