What We Offer

The City and County of Denver offers a competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. The anticipated starting salary range for this position is $74,000.00 to $84,000.00/year.

Location

The City and County of Denver utilizes a hybrid model workplace that balances the responsibilities of public service with the benefits of a flexible work environment. Employees work where needed, at a city site and/or in the community several days a week. In this position you can expect to work on site, three (3) days a week at:

About the Department

The Department of Finance (DOF) is responsible for the fiscal health of the City. It leads fiscal analysis and guidance, budgeting, accounting functions, enforcement of fiscal policies, practices and procedures for the entire City and County of Denver. The DOF fulfills the state statutory responsibilities for tax assessment and collection. DOF also manages the City’s debt portfolio and investment portfolio.

The Budget and Management Office (BMO) prepares and oversees the implementation of the City’s annual budget, evaluates new initiatives and program proposals by city agencies, makes recommendations to elected officials, and collects and analyzes fiscal and performance data related to the operations of the City and County government.

What You Will Do
  • Provide strong customer service by assisting and advising multiple City and County of Denver agencies in the development of their annual budget requests and making annual budget recommendations.
  • Work with team members of Associate Budget Analysts, Senior Budget Analysts, and Budget Analyst Specialists on improvements that innovate processes and gather citywide data.
  • Perform and complete work assignments involving research, data interpretation, analysis, formulation of recommendations and both ad‑hoc and periodic report preparation.
  • Provide financial analysis of agency or citywide expenditures and revenue.
  • Analyze agency operations or citywide systems and make recommendations to deliver services more efficiently and effectively.
  • Support the BMO team on projects and create strong relationships with colleagues and client agencies.
  • Assist as needed with agency project deadlines and reports with a team‑based approach.

  • Extensive budget experience in the public sector. Master’s degree in public administration preferred.
