Revenue Accountant

Description We are looking for a skilled Revenue Accountant to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Denver, Colorado. This role is ideal for someone with strong attention to detail and expertise in revenue recognition, month-end close processes, and financial analysis. You will play a key role in optimizing workflows, ensuring compliance, and supporting accurate revenue reporting.

Responsibilities:

- Prepare and analyze monthly revenue accounting processes and oversee the month-end close to ensure compliance with organizational standards.

- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency by streamlining current processes and implementing automation where applicable.

- Collaborate with the Revenue Distribution team to verify the accuracy of allocated sales volumes and revenues for individual properties and cost centers.

- Liaise with production and marketing teams to coordinate monthly settlements and ensure alignment.

- Perform or support monthly revenue distribution tasks, including processing cash receipts, verifying revenue data, entering transactions from sales remittances, and reviewing system-generated reports.

- Assemble and review revenue voucher batches for approval to maintain accurate financial documentation.

- Conduct variance analyses to identify discrepancies and provide actionable insights for revenue reporting.

- Utilize tools like Enertia and Oracle to manage and analyze revenue data effectively.

- Ensure compliance with ASC 606 standards while addressing accruals and monthly adjustments. Requirements

- Proven experience in revenue recognition accounting, including familiarity with ASC 606 guidelines.

- Strong understanding of month-end close processes and accrual accounting.

- Proficiency in analyzing revenues and performing variance analysis.

- Prior experience in oil and gas revenue reporting is highly desirable.

- Competency in financial systems such as Enertia and SAP.

- Ability to manage large datasets and ensure accuracy in revenue allocation and reporting.

- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.

- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical capabilities.
