Director of Finance – Denver, CO (hybrid role)
A rapidly growing construction company seeks a forward-thinking Director of Finance to lead financial strategy and partner with ownership in driving continued expansion. - Growth potential to VP of Finance or CFO roles
- 5+ years of investment banking, private equity, FP&A, or similar high-performing financial environment experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (CPA preferred but not required)
- Demonstrated financial acumen with a forward-thinking, strategic mindset
- Experience at a smaller, start-up, or high-growth company supporting scale and process improvement
- Expertise in financial modeling, forecasting, and data visualization tools
- Proficiency with cash flow forecasting, AR/AP management, and risk identification
- Proven ability to translate complex financial insights into strategic business decisions
- Experience in construction, manufacturing, or other project-driven industries
- Hands-on knowledge of job costing, WIP, revenue recognition, bonding, and banking
- Experience with Sage or similar ERP/accounting systems
- Automation and system improvement mindset
- Strong communication skills with an ability to make financials actionable for non-accountants
- Previous success in a lean, hands-on environment
- Build and lead the company’s financial strategy, planning, and reporting frameworks
- Develop and maintain budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial models
- Design clear dashboards and reporting to empower leadership with actionable data
- Own working capital, cash flow management, risk analysis, and system automation
- Oversee financial close processes, strengthen internal controls, and ensure GAAP compliance
- Partner with project teams to align financial processes and support field operations
- Guide capital allocation, growth investments, and major financial decisions
- Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting and finance team
