OpportunityEY Private Tax is a growing practice focused on serving privately held companies—from family‑owned businesses to private equity‑owned entities. These high‑growth private companies offer a diverse portfolio of challenging work. The role provides opportunities for progression to senior manager with ample support and training.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare or review federal and state tax returns for U.S. corporations and some partnerships, including foreign reporting for cross‑border compliance (foreign partnerships, corporations, disregarded entities, affiliate reporting).
- Provide tax research, draft tax memoranda, and assist in quantitative modeling for private client tax advisory services.
- Identify and communicate significant tax matters to Senior Managers, Managing Directors, and Partners.
- Liaise and build relationships with other service lines and subject‑matter professionals.
- Develop long‑term client relationships, understanding their unique needs to tailor services.
- Communicate complex tax issues to non‑tax professionals and clients.
- Maintain technical currency by updating and sharing best practices.
- Manage, coach, and develop a team of tax professionals, reviewing work and ensuring they have the tools and opportunities to excel.
- Identify and react to risks and opportunities to improve services and processes.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field with tax, business, or financial planning experience.
- CPA certification or membership in the Bar.
- Prior experience with ASC 740 tax provisions.
- Excellent collaboration, negotiation, and confidence to challenge stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in professional services or a professional tax organization.
- Commitment to continuous learning.
- Proficiency with tax software such as RIA, CCH Intelli Connect, One Source, BNA, or Lexis Nexis.
- Experience managing, coaching, and mentoring junior colleagues.
- Willingness to travel as needed and operate in a hybrid environment.
- A comprehensive compensation and benefits package with a base salary range of $106,500–$195,100 in the U.S. and variations for major markets. The Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and paid time off.
