The Denver Performing Arts Complex houses ten performance spaces on its 12-acre site, including the historic Ellie Caulkins Opera House, Temple Hoyne Buell Theatre, and Boettcher Concert Hall. The Arts Complex is home to four resident companies:
Colorado Ballet, Colorado Symphony, Opera Colorado, and the Denver Center for the Performing Arts which offers Broadway shows, Tony award winning theatre, cabaret, and experimental productions. The Arts Complex is also home to Dazzle Jazz and features two full-service restaurants and the expansive Sculpture Park, which hosts a variety of outdoor events. The annual budget for the Arts Complex is $20 million.

Technical Production Manager is the management position responsible for venue show production and technical support for the Arts Complex. The position reports to the Assistant Venue Director of the Denver Performing Arts Complex for the City and County of Denver.
** As the Technical Production Manager, you will:
*** Work closely with our production contract partners on back of house operations, training programs, standard operation procedures and mentorship.
* Demonstrate a strong understanding of technical and production elements for performances, rehearsals, and outdoor events.
* Collaborate with resident companies, visiting productions, rental clients, and community partners on production related items as required.
* Possess experience working with union labor (IATSE), freelance technicians, and in-house technical staff.
* Collaborate with the sales team to create accurate pre-show estimates for production-related expenses.
* Provide technical guidance during pre-event planning, walkthroughs, and site visits for all AC Creates programs and venue produced events at the Arts Complex.
* Provide audiovisual and technical support for events held in our non-theatre event spaces.
* Deliver superior customer service and cultivate positive, solutions-oriented relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
* Develop and maintain policies and procedures related to back-of-house event operations.
* Provide leadership and mentorship to back-of-house staff, modeling a service-forward, detail-oriented, and inclusive approach to venue management while ensuring operational consistency and alignment with Denver Arts & Venues’ values.
* Enforce and promote safety protocols in accordance with OSHA standards, local regulations, and Denver Arts & Venues policies.
* Maintain current knowledge of fire codes, safety procedures, and accessibility standards.
* Oversee the annual maintenance, repair, and safe operation of production equipment and venue-specific technical systems.
* Resolve escalated client complaints related to back-of-house operations.
* Support operational and finance staff during event settlement phases as needed.
* Review and approve contractor timesheets, invoices, and deliverables.
* Provide recommendations for capital expenditures.
* Participate in professional training and stay current on emerging technologies and trends in live production and venue management.
* Lead, mentor, and evaluate Entertainment Production Coordinator in high-performance, value-driven environment that fosters collaboration, accountability, and inclusion.
* Evaluate equipment needs and assist with long-term planning for capital improvements, upgrades, and replacements.
* Serve as a production expert on capital projects related to show operations and technical requirements.
