We are partnering with a leading data center operator to recruit an experienced Data Center Technician (Contract) to support ongoing operations across their regional facilities. This role is ideal for candidates with early‑stage critical infrastructure experience who are looking to grow their technical skills in a highly reliable, mission‑critical environment.
The successful contractor will support the operations, maintenance, and performance of electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems while helping the site maintain 99.999% uptime. You’ll work closely with on‑site teams to ensure continuous, safe, and compliant facility operations.
Role Responsibilities- Participate in a 24x7 on‑call rotation supporting mission‑critical infrastructure.
- Monitor, maintain, and repair facility systems to ensure maximum uptime and SLA compliance.
- Interpret and work from engineering drawings, blueprints, MOPs, and SOPs.
- Support change windows, commissioning activities, and disaster-recovery dry runs.
- Assist with power provisioning for customer deployments and electrical modifications.
- Conduct regular facility rounds to ensure equipment health, cleanliness, and proper operation.
- Monitor alerts and respond to system events or equipment abnormalities.
- Support off‑hours and weekend maintenance activities when required.
- Collaborate with TAC and site personnel, receiving hands‑on training as needed.
- Contribute to customer reporting for power and space utilisation.
- Perform additional operational duties as directed by site management.
- Minimum 1 year of data center operations experience.
- Experience with root cause analysis, troubleshooting, and problem solving.
- Exposure to building automation systems (BAS).
- At least 1 year within a critical infrastructure environment.
- Working knowledge of key systems such as:
- Generators, UPS, ATS, PDU
- Transformers, feeders, switch gear
- Relevant military or trade background is strongly considered.
- Electrical or mechanical certification, or an associate degree in a related field.
- 2+ years experience in data centers with a focus on equipment and facility operations.
- Experience with soft‑skills or leadership development training.
- Strong technical depth in electrical and mechanical systems.
- Ability to sit for extended periods.
- Ability to stand or walk for approx. 50% of working time.
- Moderate to advanced computer/keyboard usage.
