Design Technician 1st shift Plant 1 (Full Time)

We are seeking a detail-oriented, mechanically inclined individual to support our Engineering department. This role is responsible for creating accurate layout and production drawings using Solid Works and AutoCAD, supporting product documentation, and collaborating cross-functionally with Marketing, R&D, Manufacturing, and Sales. The position plays a key role in engineering support, product development, and technical documentation activities.
This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, effective verbal communication skills, excellent visual attention to detail, and proficient manual dexterity for operating computer and office equipment.
1. Proficiency with CAD software, including AutoCAD and Solid Works.
3. Proficient in reading and interpreting both 2D and 3D engineering drawings.
Essential Job Functions1. Create part and assembly drawings using Solid Works and AutoCAD. Maintain and update network drawing folders for Wire and Husky Product designs as needed.
2. Use Visualize or similar software to generate images for price catalogs, brochures, and installation instructions. Update materials as changes are made and complete related tasks assigned by the Marketing department.
3. Work closely with the R&D team on product improvement and development projects. Design and document parts based on R&D requirements. Assist with prototype fabrication in partnership with Manufacturing. Communicate regularly with the Engineering team to implement necessary revisions.
4. Produce 2D and 3D layout drawings for Wireway and Husky products. Prepare and provide Bills of Material (BOMs) to support Inside Sales.
5. Use the ERP system to maintain Item Master records, Bills of Material, and Standard Routings for Wire products. Create new BOMs in accordance with established procedures and best practices.
6. Work on Wire product layout drawings as needed. This will include preparing drawing, creating Bill of Material and calculating pricing for custom items.
7. Utilize seismic design software to determine rack components and generate corresponding Bills of Material.
8. Prepare Rack Layout drawings with details for anchors, beam elevations, dimensions showing rack placement with reference to building structure etc to send to PE for Stamped Drawing and Calculation. Prepare drawings with details and secure calculations and stamped drawings for sold orders.
9. Perform other projects as directed by supervisor.
