SEH is hiring a Mechanical Engineer to be a foundational hire for our West Region team in Colorado. This role is built for an engineer who can run projects independently and serve as the mechanical lead from concept through construction with confidence.
You will step into a high-autonomy seat where you can operate as the mechanical lead: scoping work, engaging clients, coordinating with design teams, producing complete construction documents in Revit, and supporting construction administration.
This is also a growth role. As the West Region team expands, this position has the opportunity to evolve into a Project Manager and people leader role as skills and interest align.
This Opportunity
- Serve as the Mechanical Engineer of Record on building and facility projects, owning quality, schedule, and delivery.
- Produce HVAC and plumbing designs and construction documents in Revit with minimal oversight
- Coordinate design with architects, owners, and internal disciplines including electrical, structural, civil, and process.
- Conduct site visits and in-person client meetings at project locations generally in the West but potentially throughout the country.
- Communicate directly with clients and project stakeholders, translating needs into practical, buildable solutions.
- Support construction administration activities including RFIs, submittals, and punchlists.
- Help shape how we deliver work in the West Region by improving standards, templates, and workflows as the team grows.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance as staff are added
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required
- Colorado licensure preferred, or ability to obtain Colorado licensure through comity soon after hire
- Demonstrated ability to run projects independently and deliver complete HVAC and plumbing designs
- Strong, working consulting experience designing to ASHRAE and relevant mechanical, plumbing, and energy codes
- Revit proficiency is required. There is design support available but generally production-level capability for modeling and construction documents is expected.
- Client-facing communication skills, including the ability to lead coordination conversations and present recommendations clearly
- Ability to travel for occasional site visits and field work
Preferred Qualifications
- Commissioning experience, including functional testing support, issue resolution, and closeout coordination
- Facility Condition Assessment (FCA) experience or capital planning experience
- Project experience in one or more of the following:
- Commercial
- Municipal
- Multifamily
- Water and wastewater facilities
- Experience leading small to midsize projects through construction with strong ownership of schedule and quality
