Position: Superintendent - Heavy Highway / Bridge

About the Job:

Appleton Finn is currently partnered with a leading Heavy civil contractor who is seeking an experienced Heavy Highway / Bridge Superintendent to lead complex bridge and structural concrete projects across Colorado.

With a regional office based in Northern Denver, their work spans the entire state. Candidates do not need to be located near Denver but should be open to travel within Colorado depending on project location.

This is a key field leadership role responsible for managing bridge projects up to $100M including bridges, highways, structures, structural concrete, falsework/formwork, girder setting, traffic control coordination, and importantly overall field leadership. The ideal candidate brings strong experience delivering City, County, and Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) projects and thrives in a hands-on, safety-first environment. Similar DOT experience will also be considered.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • 10+ years of Heavy Civil / Highway construction experience (Ideally in Colorado)
  • Proven experience delivering CDOT, City, and County infrastructure projects
  • Strong background in bridges, highway, or structures
  • Experienced managing self-perform crews and subcontracted scopes
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex, detail-oriented projects up to $100M
  • Skilled in scheduling, cost control, and managing contractual obligations
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team-building abilities
  • Proficient in reviewing labor and cost data (Heavy Job, Viewpoint experience preferred)
  • Committed to fostering a Safety-First culture and mentoring field teams
