Job Title: Design Engineer – Power Transformers

Salary: $140,000 – $180,000 (depending on skills and experience)

Role Summary:
We are looking for a skilled Design Engineer for Power Transformers to support complex design, remanufacturing, upgrade, and life-extension engineering projects on large liquid‑filled power transformers (up to 345 kV / 200 MVA). This role involves hands‑on technical work throughout the full engineering lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform detailed thermal, electrical, mechanical, and short‑circuit calculations to support transformer design and upgrades.
• Create and review engineering drawings, technical documentation, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Conduct failure analysis and root‑cause investigations on transformer components.
• Work closely with manufacturing, testing, and field teams to ensure design accuracy and execution.
• Provide technical input for customer proposals and project solutions.
Required Skills & Experience:
• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (Master’s a plus).
• Minimum 5 years of experience in transformer coil/active‑part design or similar electrical design role.
• Experience with transformer design software and short‑circuit modeling.
• Strong understanding of insulation systems, losses, inrush current, and mechanical forces in high‑voltage equipment.
• Proficiency with CAD tools like AutoCAD, Solid Works, or equivalent.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation and collaboration.
Travel & Relocation:
• Some travel required (typical 10 – 15 %).
• Relocation to the Denver engineering hub is encouraged for long‑term candidates.
