Urban Sky is a venture-backed aerospace startup that pioneers utilization of the stratosphere and reimagines how humans view and analyze the earth. We design, build, operate, and sell stratospheric balloon systems, and the data we collect supports applications such as real-time wildfire monitoring and urban mapping. Our technology is used by government customers including the Department of Defense (DoD) and NASA.

Urban Sky conducts weekly flights to the stratosphere.

As a Payload & Avionics Assembly Technician at Urban Sky, you will manufacture and refurbish payload and avionics systems at our Denver, CO headquarters. You will work with the Lead Technician and hardware engineering team to assemble both production and R&D systems for regular flight operations. This position is onsite at our Denver, CO HQ.

• Manufacture and integration of electro-mechanical assemblies.
• Semi-automated testing of completed assemblies.
• Troubleshoot and track manufacturing issues with assistance from our Electrical Engineering team.

• Experience with assembly, repair and troubleshooting in an ESD sensitive environment
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Ability to multitask while maintaining a high level of attention to detail and precision
• Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of mechanical concepts
• Good problem solving, troubleshooting, critical thinking and creative thinking skills
• Experience with MS Office
• Able to keep a clean and well-maintained workspace using 5S philosophy

• Exposure to a startup environment
• Ability to read and understand schematics and wiring diagrams
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing environment
• Experience with RCA (root cause analysis) and FMEA (Failure Mode & Effects Analysis) processes
• Experience with technical writing
• Experience with through hole and SMD soldering

• Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident
• Located or willing to relocate to Denver, CO
• Base pay $25-$32 per hour
• Medical, Vision and Dental

Urban Sky is required to post this salary range per Colorado law. Your salary will be determined based on your abilities and experience.
