Responsibilities

HDR is seeking an Electrical Engineer EIT/Coordinator to join the industrial and commercial facilities team in our Denver, Colorado office. The primary role is to perform electrical engineering and design assignments under the guidance of senior staff electrical engineers. Projects may include healthcare, higher education, renewable energy systems, water/wastewater, mining, oil & gas, data center/mission-critical, industrial, and institutional campus facilities, with detailed electrical design as the primary focus and cross-training in Instrumentation & Controls/Automation.

This position includes support for new and retrofit electrical and instrumentation & control systems, including the preparation of electrical diagrams, cable and panel schedules, electrical site plans, facility electrical power and lighting plans, schematic control diagrams, and electrical equipment and materials specifications.

The EIT/Coordinator will perform detailed system calculations, drawing production, project specification editing, and assignments using standard engineering techniques and procedures. Responsibilities may include field investigations and condition assessments, construction observations, startup and commissioning of new and modified systems, and participation in portions of the engineering work for major projects or several smaller but complex projects within the discipline.

Project work is primarily in the Colorado/Rocky Mountain area with occasional short-term travel (typically 1–5 days) and infrequent longer-term assignments may be required.

Location:

Denver, Colorado. This role may involve travel to projects located in other geographies as needed.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in electrical engineering or architectural engineering with an Electrical emphasis
  • Experience with an architectural/engineering consulting firm is strongly preferred
  • Healthcare or higher education project experience is strongly preferred
  • Experience with electrical devices and circuits, control schematics, electrical diagrams, electrical systems theory (beneficial)
  • Strong computer knowledge of Microsoft Office; familiarity or willingness to learn electrical design software
  • Candidates living near the Denver, Colorado area preferred
  • Active participation in an employee-owned culture is a must
  • EIT certification strongly preferred. If hired without EIT, the title will be "Coordinator" and progression requires obtaining EIT
  • Preference given to local candidates
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis
  • Desire to pursue growth opportunities and obtain registration
  • Strong computer skills using AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, Revit, SKM, AGI, and Easy Power
