Civil Engineering Technician – Water / Utilities
Onsite – 5 Days per Week
Must reside within 50 miles of one of the following locations:
- Denver, CO
- Phoenix, AZ
- San Marcos, CA
- Tualatin, OR

Position OverviewWe are seeking a Civil Engineering Technician to support water and wastewater infrastructure projects, including linear pipelines and related utility systems. This role functions in a project engineering technician capacity, supporting engineering and design teams in developing and modifying technical deliverables. The position focuses heavily on site drainage, grading, and utility plan development using Autodesk Civil 3D and related design software.
Key Responsibilities- Develop site drainage, grading, and utility plans using Autodesk Civil 3D and Bentley Micro Station.
- Create and modify plan and profile drawings, alignments, pipe networks, and grading surfaces.
- Interpret engineering design inputs and prepare moderately complex deliverables.
- Perform design calculations, material quantity takeoffs, and estimates.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and document control procedures.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary design teams to exchange project information and support design development.
- Review deliverables for quality and accuracy.
- Support field activities as needed.
- Provide technical guidance to junior team members when appropriate.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and quality initiatives.
- Minimum 5 years of related civil drafting/design experience.
- Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D, including:
- Pipe and pressure networks
- Proposed grading surfaces
- Plan and profile development
- Strong understanding of:
- Plan & profile drawings
- Alignments
- Pipe networks
- Site grading
- Autodesk Civil 3D (Advanced – Required)
- Autodesk AutoCAD
- Bluebeam
- Experience with electronic document control systems and CAD applications
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and deliverable content
- Working knowledge of engineering standards and design practices
- Basic understanding of construction and constructability principles
- Diploma or technical certificate preferred
- Associate Degree in Drafting, Engineering Design Technology, or related field preferred
