Position Type: Safety-sensitive
Your MissionAs a Compliance Technician, you will ensure petroleum storage and dispensing systems meet all regulatory and environmental requirements through testing, inspection, and documentation.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct inspections, testing, and monitoring of petroleum systems including USTs, ASTs, piping, sensors, and leak detection equipment
- Perform annual, periodic, and post-repair compliance testing (line and leak testing, ATG functionality, overfill protection, spill containment)
- Inspect and verify proper operation of leak detection, interstitial monitoring, cathodic protection, and vapor recovery systems
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations including EPA, OPS, and fire code requirements
- Prepare and submit detailed compliance reports and testing documentation for clients and regulatory agencies
- Maintain accurate site-specific compliance records, logs, and permit documentation
- Work closely with service technicians and contractors to identify and correct non-compliant conditions
- Stay current on evolving environmental regulations, testing standards, and industry best practices (PEI, API, NFPA, etc.)
- Calibrate, maintain, and properly document testing equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability
- Participate in safety meetings and comply with all company policies related to hazardous materials, confined space entry, and spill prevention
- Valid Colorado QST Certification and A/B Operator Certification (required)
- Experience performing compliance testing or inspections on petroleum storage and dispensing systems
- Working knowledge of UST/AST regulations, OPS requirements, and environmental compliance programs
- Familiarity with fuel system components including ATGs (Veeder-Root), sensors, sumps, and leak detection systems
- Knowledge of or certification in compliance testing methods such as SIR, pressure testing, or cathodic protection evaluation
- Experience preparing regulatory documentation and compliance reports
- Comfortable using compliance testing tools (line testers, pressure gauges, conductivity meters, LLD test kits, etc.)
- Ability to work independently in the field with strong time-management and scheduling skills
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify, document, and resolve compliance deficiencies
- Solid understanding of safety protocols related to fuel systems, vapor hazards, and confined space work
Some positions require travel and overnight stays. Travel expenses will be covered by Nwestco, LLC

- Ability to pass pre-employment physical with extensive lifting (up to 75 lb), twisting, pulling, kneeling, and squatting.
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug-screening and background check. If the position is classified as safety-sensitive, it requires the applicant to pass a comprehensive drug test, including screening for marijuana, as a condition of employment.
- A valid driver's license with a clean driving record over the past 5 years required.
