Overview
Water Permitting Project Manager —
Location:
Denver, CO (Hybrid) — Compensation: $97,000 - $131,000 per year, depending on experience. Spheros Environmental is seeking a Senior Environmental Scientist, Hydrologist, or Water Resources Engineer to join our Environmental Management team. In this role, you’ll lead the charge in navigating complex environmental permitting and water quality regulations for water resource projects across the West. This opportunity can be full-time or part-time.
- Identify federal, state, and local permitting requirements for complex water projects.
- Provide regulatory guidance and risk assessment for permitting pathways.
- Oversee permitting-related project work and agency coordination.
- Lead or contribute to the preparation of environmental permit applications and supporting documentation.
- Represent clients in Water Quality Control Commission hearings and stakeholder processes.
- Mentor junior staff and support team development.
- Design scopes of work, prepare cost estimates, and manage project budgets/schedules.
- Develop and maintain key client relationships.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and ensure quality project deliverables.
- Maintain clear and proactive project communication.
- Bachelor’s or higher in environmental science, engineering, hydrology, ecology, geology, or a related field.
- 10+ years of water-related permitting or regulatory experience.
- Experience with agencies including USACE, NEPA, WQCD, WQCC, CDPS, USFS, and county-level 1041 permitting.
- Strong project management and business development experience.
- Active engagement in the Colorado water community.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Master’s degree.
- Prior consulting experience.
- Wetland delineation training or certification.
- PE, PG, or PH license (or the desire to obtain one in Colorado).
