Position Summary
HDR Engineering is looking for a Wastewater Engineer/Manager to join our growing team in Denver, Fort Collins, or Colorado Springs.
This position is part of our Water Business Group in Colorado and will assist in growing the Wastewater Market Sector, including projects such as wastewater treatment facilities, pipelines and pump stations, solids treatment, and master planning.
Primary responsibilities include advancing business development strategies, developing and pursuing new clients and projects, managing projects, serving as technical lead, and guiding staff development.
Primary Responsibilities- Evaluate emerging/embryonic technologies and develop/pilot work plans with strategic clients nationwide.
- Engage with clients to discuss their needs and how HDR can assist them.
- Prepare construction documents, perform design calculations, write specifications, and produce analysis and study‑level reports for water and wastewater systems.
- Coordinate projects, including equipment sizing and selection, and collaborate directly with owners.
- Provide strong written and oral communication, including client presentations and reports.
- Act as owner’s representative: coordinate inspections, review shop drawings and submittals, respond to construction correspondence, and coordinate commissioning activities.
- Coordinate work of engineers and multidisciplinary project team throughout development.
- Conduct design development sessions with staff.
- Present findings at local, regional, and international conferences.
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience designing and supporting implementation of wastewater projects.
- Strong technical background in treatment systems, collection systems, and pump station projects.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and hydraulic or process modeling software.
- Self‑motivated, independent, and effective on integrated project teams.

- MS in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
- Proven leadership, project management (staffing, schedule, budget), and mentoring skills.
- Business development experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- 7 years of related experience.
- Minimum 2 years project management experience.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- MS Office and MS Project experience required (Access experience a plus).
- Demonstrated leadership skills.
