Position Overview
This role serves as a multi-functional senior engineering position responsible for providing technical leadership within the civil discipline. The primary focus is guiding engineers and designers in sound engineering judgment, technical compliance, and industry best practices. Additional responsibilities include serving as the discipline lead on projects, ensuring alignment with defined scope, budget, and schedule, and acting as a technical liaison between engineering staff and project leadership.
Key Responsibilities- Provide technical leadership and oversight for civil engineering design activities
- Ensure engineering deliverables meet applicable codes, regulations, and quality standards
- Support project execution through scope management, schedule coordination, and budget awareness
- Identify and manage scope changes in coordination with project stakeholders
- Assist with proposal development, workload forecasting, and labor-hour estimation
- Coordinate civil engineering work with other technical disciplines
- Oversee preparation and review of design drawings, calculations, and specifications
- Maintain alignment between discipline engineers and project leadership throughout project lifecycle
- Strong working knowledge of engineering design tools and drawing production software
- Ability to recognize and manage scope changes and design impacts
- Ensures consistency with organizational values, technical standards, and quality expectations
- Provides input to proposals and resource planning efforts
- Full understanding of engineering work processes and deliverable development
- Thorough knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements
- Demonstrated ability to identify scope changes and technical risks
- Plans and executes detailed civil engineering work in coordination with other disciplines
- Prepares technical reports, progress updates, and project forecasts
- Assigns and oversees preparation of discipline-specific drawings and documentation
- Holds technical responsibility for compliance with professional engineering standards
- Establishes and manages project scope, schedules, and budgets in alignment with client objectives
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license (required or strongly preferred, depending on level)
- Progressive experience in civil engineering design and project execution, with seniority determined by years of experience
- Occasional domestic and/or international travel, including potential field assignments lasting several weeks
