This role supports a wide variety of environmental projects. Preferred candidates have field experience at Superfund and other contaminated sites, running complex field programs, preparing planning documents and reports for environmental characterization and remediation projects. They also have experience assessing and evaluating remedial approaches for contaminated soil, sediment, and groundwater, and are ready to advance to a technical leader or project manager role.
Responsibilities- Managing tasks on large projects or phases of small projects.
- Performing surface and subsurface soil sampling, groundwater sampling, and other field data collection to support environmental and water supply projects.
- Working on a variety of assignments, which may include field studies, research investigations, construction oversight, data interpretation and evaluation, or report preparation.
- Performing engineering design for environmental projects, including preparation of drawings, specifications, calculations, and developing operation, maintenance, and monitoring plans.
- Performing remedial construction oversight and quality control.
- Reviewing draft assessments and calculations for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Learning project management techniques and the CDM Smith management system.
- Developing external client interaction and marketing skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental or Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
- Certification as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam within 18 months of hire.
- Five years of related experience.
- Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
- Valid driver's license.
- Minimal project management experience.
- Experience in oil/gas/solid waste/landfill/CCR permitting, design and construction (at least 5 years) with strong client relationship building.
- Field experience at Superfund, mining, and other contaminated sites.
- Experience supervising and mentoring junior engineers and in construction management.
- Willingness to travel for field work.
Approximately 10% of the time.
Skills and AbilitiesExpert knowledge of CAD/CADD 3D and 4D software, engineering design principles, Microsoft business software (Excel, Word, etc.), and excellent verbal and written communication skills.

PayRange
Minimum: $86,507. Maximum: $142,730.
