Responsibilities

As an Environmental Planner
, you will take an active role on multidisciplinary teams working on complex infrastructure projects across their full lifecycle. Typical project sectors may include energy, transportation, ports and maritime, water, rail, and air quality. You will provide impeccable service to our clients through delivery of quality work product, working directly with project managers, client account managers, and technical resource specialists. You will provide technical expertise and facilitate day‑to‑day delivery of projects, establishing processes and procedures for continued success.

Requirements
  • BA/BS or MS degree in planning, environmental science, biology, ecology, civil engineering, or related field.
  • Five to ten years of progressive environmental work experience.
  • Experience implementing permitting strategies in coordination with federal, state, and local agencies (e.g., USACE, USFWS, state wildlife agencies).
  • Experience conducting and leading field crews collecting data to support reports and permit applications to regulatory agencies.
  • Strong technical writing and environmental analysis skills, with demonstrated experience authoring environmental reports and permit applications.
  • Experience performing and managing staff and/or subcontractors on projects.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced, matrixed organization.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and staying current with regulatory changes and industry trends.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools.
  • Experience with fast‑paced projects and formal quality control procedures.
  • Understanding of and experience with environmental compliance processes for public infrastructure (transportation and water) projects.
  • Knowledge of and experience with environmental requirements and processes of state and federal regulatory and land management agencies.
  • Experience conducting research, preparing technical reports, synthesizing data, and preparing environmental documents.
  • Experience interacting with clients to communicate findings and develop environmental process strategies; representing clients on project teams and in agency‑to‑agency coordination.
  • Experience in public and agency participation, meetings, and scoping processes.
  • Experience managing project budgets, coordinating accounting and invoicing activities, and monthly project status reviews.
Ideally, you'll also have
  • A relevant professional certification in planning, environmental science, biology, ecology, wetland science, civil engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with FERC‑regulated natural gas projects, including preparation of Section 7(b) and 7(c) filings, prior notice/blanket authorizations, and third‑party EA/EIS documents. General knowledge of linear facility siting and permitting.
  • Experience participating in and developing materials for public involvement activities such as open houses, scoping meetings, and focus groups.
