In this role, you’ll work closely with our principal engineers to support project execution and oversight, while also providing technical guidance and mentorship to our junior engineers. You will also collaborate with our process engineering team to coordinate projects conducted through our metallurgical testing facility.
We are SLR Consulting (US), a coast‑to‑coast team of 500+ advisory, environmental/engineering, and regulatory professionals. We deliver environmental and sustainability services to our clients through the integration of over 30 advisory, technical environmental, and engineering disciplines to help clients address some of their most complex challenges around sustainability. As our new Senior Mechanical Engineer
, you will play an important role on a team whose work is essential to achieving this goal.
- Support all aspects of projects: planning, design, permitting, and execution
- Proactively manage projects to achieve quality, schedule, budget, and safety
- Utilize project control tools to track and forecast project performance
- Work closely with other disciplines on multi‑discipline projects
- Assist in engineering design of projects from scoping, prefeasibility, feasibility, execution
- Assist in cost estimation for projects
- Perform and review design calculations for mechanical and piping systems
- Review project specifications & drawings (PFDs, P&IDs, General Arrangements, etc.)
- Assist in preparation of proposals for engineering services
- Review and prepare reports, technical memorandums, and presentations
- Assist in procurement of equipment, supplies, and contracts
- Perform field engineering and construction quality assurance (CQA) duties during construction and commissioning
- Ensure projects are designed and constructed with safety being the highest priority
- Equipment bid evaluation and selection

- The salary range for this position is $110,000 - $140,000. Final agreed‑upon compensation will be commensurate with individual education, professional designation, experience, internal parity, and location.

- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
- Minimum of 8 years of mechanical engineering experience in the mining industry
- Project management experience is strongly preferred
- Registered, or eligible for registration, as a Professional Engineer
- Working knowledge of ASME B31.3 Process Piping
- Experience in equipment sizing, process design, and vendor package assessment
- Familiarity with mineral processing operations and construction is considered an asset
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to thrive in a team‑oriented, fast‑paced environment
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required
