Mortenson is currently seeking a Sustainability Manager that will provide management, leadership, direction, and support of Mortenson’s sustainability agenda. The role guides cross‑functional teams and external partners, establishes expectations for sustainability performance, drives sustainability initiatives, and oversees the integrity of environmental data used for reporting and decision making.

Responsibilities
  • Support the organization’s sustainability strategy and related initiatives.
  • Execute sustainability programs effectively.
  • Ensure alignment between strategic actions and overall business objectives.
  • Provide team members with education, training, and hands‑on demonstrations.
  • Establish and monitor key sustainability goals.
  • Oversee and manage relevant reporting metrics.
  • Facilitate continuous improvement across sustainability efforts.
  • Collaborate with various business units on sustainability‑related projects.
  • Partner with stakeholders in business development, customer requirements, and trade partner engagement as appropriate.
  • Work collaboratively to maintain current knowledge of sustainability standards, evolving industry trends, and green building rating systems.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and strong customer service skills.
  • Maintain detail orientation sufficient to organize and manage multiple project tasks.
  • Interpret and communicate Mortenson policies.
  • Apply active listening skills and effective communication, including openness to diverse input and feedback.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Preferred eight or more years of related experience.
  • Preferred experience with industry sustainability rating systems (e.g., LEED, WELL, B3, etc.).
  • Current driver’s license.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%.

Base pay range: $116,300 – $174,500 (additional increments for senior markets: Denver/Chicago: +5%, Seattle/Portland: +10%, Washington, D.C.: +12.5%). Salary is positioned within this range based on experience, knowledge, skills, and internal equity. The role is eligible for Mortenson’s incentive plan.
