Description

HDR Engineering is looking for a Wastewater Engineer/Manager to join our growing team in Denver, Fort Collins, or Colorado Springs.

This role is a self‑starter position focused on the growth and development of the Wastewater Market Sector in Colorado, including wastewater treatment facilities, pipelines, pump stations, solids treatment, and master planning. Primary responsibilities include advancing business development strategies, pursuing new clients and projects, managing projects, leading technical work, and developing staff.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Evaluate emerging/embryonic technologies and develop piloting work‑plans with strategic clients nationwide.
  • Engage with clients to discuss their needs and how HDR can assist.
  • Prepare design calculations, technical reports, and construction documents for water and wastewater systems.
  • Coordinate engineering, procurement, and construction activities, including shop drawing reviews, submittals, and construction correspondence.
  • Act as owner’s representative for inspection, commissioning, and acceptance activities.
  • Lead design development sessions and contract document preparation with project staff.
  • Present at local, regional, and international conferences.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum 7 years experience designing and supporting wastewater projects, including treatment, collection, and pump station systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; hydraulic or process modeling software experience a plus.
  • Self‑motivated, independent worker with strong teamwork skills and experience on integrated project teams.
  • Commitment to employee‑owned culture; local candidates preferred.
  • MS in Civil or Environmental Engineering (preferred).
  • Proven project leadership, staffing, scheduling, budgeting, and mentoring skills.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
  • 7 years related experience.
  • Minimum 2 years project management experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • MS Office and MS Project experience (Access experience a plus).
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
