Overview

Thermal Engineering Manager role at True Anomaly. Lead and grow the thermal engineering capability with hands-on spacecraft thermal design and analysis, while managing and mentoring a small team of thermal engineers. Set standards for analysis, testing, and best practices to support True Anomaly’s rapidly developed space systems.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor a small team of thermal engineers, setting technical direction, standards, and best practices for thermal analysis and testing.
  • Collaborate with product-focused teams (mechanical, electrical, software, and automation) to rapidly develop innovative thermal designs.
  • Perform integrated thermal analysis to size heaters and radiators and determine external coatings to keep spacecraft elements within thermal limits.
  • Conduct detailed thermal analysis across various design reference missions (DRMs).
  • Design and help develop detailed part and assembly drawings for heaters, MLI, and other thermal-control components.
  • Assist with electronic thermal predictions and board-level analysis.
  • Coordinate thermal interfaces between subsystems.
  • Lead and support Thermal Vacuum and Thermal Cycle testing, including model correlation.
  • Contribute to and review technical documentation to ensure high-quality thermal analysis deliverables.
  • Support on-orbit operations as the thermal subject matter expert.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (or related field) with training in analysis of structures and fluids.
  • 6+ years of professional experience in space thermal analysis and control.
  • Excellence in thermal vacuum testing, analysis, and model correlation.
  • Thermal experience with spacecraft subcomponents such as optical payloads, mechanisms, and structures.
  • Proficiency in tools such as Thermal Desktop and Solid Works.
  • Experience setting technical standards, mentoring junior engineers, or providing technical leadership.
  • Passion for the space industry and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to work autonomously with limited requirements or management oversight.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Skills And Experience
  • Master’s degree in aerospace engineering (or related field).
  • Experience managing or leading small engineering teams.
  • Familiarity with rapid hardware development in a startup or fast-paced environment.
Compensation
  • Base Salary: $155,000-$215,000
  • Equity + Benefits including Health, Dental, Vision, HRA/HSA options, PTO and paid holidays, 401K, Parental Leave

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related knowledge and skills, education, location, and experience.

Additional Requirements
  • Ability to maintain or obtain TS/SC I clearance.
  • Hybrid work environment with onsite requirements; expect to be onsite at our Gravity Works facility in Denver at least 3 days per week.
  • Work environment and physical demands as described; including temperature, noise, bending, sitting, lifting, and driving as applicable.
