Managing Consultant – Energy & Environmental Economics (E3) – Full‑time, 0‑10% travel, based in San Francisco, CA.

- Integrated System Planning
- Lead the delivery of customer work through modeling, presentations, writing, and preparation of full sections of reports.
- Conduct independent research, develop assumptions, and produce end‑to‑end project deliverables.
- Deliver presentations to customers and respond to questions.
- Develop proficiency with flagship modeling tools, gather relevant data, and vet results.
- Oversee or assist in the management of existing tools and implement major revisions to toolkits.
- Apply core QA/QC best practices.
- Lead proposal writing on small/medium projects.
- Translate research results into clear visual representations.
- Create or edit spreadsheets to be client‑ready, including developing custom tools.
- Track and manage actual performance of work against established plans, communicating with directors and team members.
- Capture project learnings and produce repeatable products for future use under knowledge‑management processes.
- Assist with internal initiatives as needed.
- Master’s degree or PhD in engineering, economics, computer science, public policy, or related field.
- 4–8 years of experience in an energy‑related field focused on the power electric sector.
- Experience with power generation, renewable energy, project economics, and the clean energy transition.
- Hands‑on experience or extensive knowledge in one of our practice areas.
- Extensive project‑management experience leading collaborative efforts.
- Strong written and oral presentation skills.
- Ability to work directly with stakeholders or customers.
- Aptitude to communicate clearly and passion for the low‑carbon transition.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; quantitative modeling and programming experience preferred.
- Experience with electricity or energy modeling platforms (e.g., AURORA, PLEXOS, ReEDS, LEAP, NEMS) is preferred.
- Desire to work in a dynamic office environment with other staff.
- Experience with large electrical loads or data‑center projects.
- Deep subject‑matter expertise in energy, power systems, and climate change.
- Significant leadership experience in a technical or analytical environment.
- Extensive experience coordinating with customers on a regular basis.
- Commitment to achieving a low‑carbon transition and the ability to translate technical concepts to broad audiences.
- Ownership of work, proactive problem solving, and creative solutions.
- Prior work at a management consulting firm.
