Opening Statement
The Denver Waldorf School (DWS) seeks a qualified candidate to join our faculty as an ECE Nursery Lead Assistant to begin in the 2026-27 school year. By working with the principles of Waldorf education, the Lead Assistant Teacher supports the Lead Teacher for their students ages 2½ to 4 years old.

Founded in 1974, we are a fully accredited full member school of the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America, the Waldorf Early Childhood Association and the Association of Colorado Independent Schools.
Essential Job DutiesThe essential responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Support the Lead Teacher in implementing the daily Waldorf-inspired classroom rhythm and activities.
- Assist with circle time, artistic activities, free play, and seasonal celebrations.
- Prepare and serve daily snack with the children and assist with classroom cleanup.
- Help prepare materials for crafts, festivals, and classroom activities.
- Assist children with transitions, including preparing for outdoor play, rest time, and dismissal.
- Accompany the class on playground time, walks, and excursions.
- Supervise lunch and rest time during the afternoon portion of the program.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment.
- Attend ECE faculty meetings and all-school meetings.
- Follow all Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS) childcare licensing regulations.
Education Requirements/Certification
- Must meet ECE Lead Assistant Teacher qualifications under Colorado Department of Human Services childcare licensing regulations.
- Experience working with young children.
- Knowledge of Waldorf education or interest in learning about Waldorf pedagogy.
- Ability to collaborate with colleagues and contribute to a supportive faculty community.

The employee may need to be able to lift or move up to 10 pounds. During class trips, the employee may need to hike over moderate terrain and participate in other repetitive, physical tasks.
The work schedule requires the employee to be at the school each day for the time necessary to accomplish instruction and responsibilities assigned thoroughly. At a minimum, full-time faculty are expected to be available to the school Monday through Friday for the entire day, beginning at 8:00 am, including dismissal monitoring, after-school student support, and after-school meetings.
