Job Summary
This role actively recruits first year students to the Spur Start program by serving as a guide and advocate for prospective students, families, and communities within the Denver metropolitan area.
Responsibilities are to connect with prospective students and families virtually and in person and through channels including email, phone, text, and video.
This position works directly with the Assistant Director of Denver Recruitment to co‑lead the Spur Start Student Ambassador program, and serves as the face of the university at recruitment events, information sessions and during‑off campus engagements.
This is a twelve‑month, full‑time permanent position with some travel and evening/weekend commitments.
EssentialJob Duties
Manage recruitment and admission activities at CSU Spur campus that includes intentional engagement with prospective students, families, and communities within the Denver metro area.
Represent the Spur Start program at events such as high school visits, college fairs, one‑on‑one appointments, information sessions, and other recruitment events.
Collaborate with Spur campus staff by attending events, participating in campus wide meetings, and providing admissions updates when appropriate.
Counsel prospective Spur Start students and their families/advocates through the enrollment process, including navigating campus systems, requirements, processes, and resources; provide daily drop‑in counseling at CSU Spur Campus, as needed.
Be available for daily presentations to visiting school aged groups.
Respond to phone, email, and text inquiries in a timely fashion.
Create and implement Spur Start recruitment programming like the high school counselor preview event as well as the student preview event.
Serve as the point of contact for the Events and Outreach (EO) team to coordinate event logistics like staffing needs and catering orders.
Design and coordinate programming happening during these events like student panels, faculty mock lectures, and student lead tours.

Ability to work irregular hours, including nights and weekends
May require some travel
Bachelor’s degree
Interest and/or experience in college‑level admissions or college counseling
Demonstration presentation and public speaking skills
An understanding of the Land Grant Mission of CSU
Experience working with various student populations
