Job SummaryThe Department of Health and Exercise Science is looking for an affiliate faculty member to teach in the Bachelors of Science in Health and Exercise Science, beginning August 2026. This position includes acting as a course coordinator for assigned courses. Any lab course coordination will include collaboration with the lecture coordinator.
Major Duties and Responsibilities- Teach assigned undergraduate courses in the Health and Exercise Science (HES) program, including lecture, laboratory, and applied learning components, in alignment with program outcomes and University standards.
- Deliver high-quality, evidence-based instruction consistent with current professional guidelines (e.g., ACSM, NSCA) and reflective of the program's Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) / Committee on Accreditation for the Exercise Sciences (CoAES) accreditation standards.
- Develop, implement, and maintain course materials, assessments, and learning activities that align with established course objectives, program learning outcomes, and CoAES accreditation requirements.
- Evaluate student assignments, laboratory competencies, applied skill assessments, and examinations in a timely and consistent manner, providing clear, constructive, and professional feedback that supports student learning and development.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date grading records and submit final grades according to University deadlines.
- Foster an inclusive, respectful learning environment that promotes critical thinking, ethical practice, cultural humility, and professional identity formation.
- Utilize the University's learning management system and required instructional technologies to post materials, communicate with students, track attendance, and manage grading.
- Collaborate with the HES Department Chair and core faculty to ensure curricular consistency, quality assurance, and continuous improvement aligned with CoAES standards.
- Master’s degree in an area related to the course content. Applicants with a background in physiology and movement sciences are preferred.

Work ScheduleWork schedules vary by semester. Affiliate faculty are recruited based on needs with defined dates/times that can be selected by affiliates during a recruitment process.

BenefitsThis position is benefits-eligible for workers' compensation and will receive 1 hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked, up to a maximum of 48 hours per year.
