Denver JDS announces the opening of a full-time Social Studies teaching position for our Middle School (grades 6–8).
Denver Jewish Day School Background:
Our pluralistic Jewish community day school prepares and inspires Jewish students through an extraordinary secular and Judaic education to live purposefully, act ethically, and thrive in the world. We serve approximately 360 students in grades PK–12 on a beautiful campus in southeast Denver. Our Upper Division comprises nearly 200 students, split evenly between the Middle School (grades 6–8) and (high school).
Our approximately 30 Upper Division faculty and staff come from diverse backgrounds and share a commitment to caring for and educating young people holistically.
Denver Jewish Day School seeks a passionate, caring, and skillful Social Studies teacher for the 2026–2027 school year. The position entitles teaching three or four sections of Middle School Social Studies, with specific course assignments to be determined based in part on the new hire’s interest and expertise (e.g., world history, U.S. history, geography, civics). Preference may be given to candidates who can also teach Middle School English and/or high school history electives.
In addition to fulfilling their core teaching responsibilities, full-time faculty at Denver JDS are expected to engage with students in other settings, including advisory, athletics, class trips, Wednesday electives, clubs, and extracurricular activities. Class sizes are small (about 15 students on average), and teachers are typically able to offer students substantial personal attention. Faculty work closely with our Student Support staff to help meet the needs of students with learning differences.
QualificationsWe are looking for an experienced educator who is excited about working in a small school environment where it is possible to get to know students well and provide highly individualized guidance and support. The ideal candidate will have:
- A record of excellence in prior Social Studies teaching roles
- Experience and enthusiasm for working with Middle School students
- Strong content knowledge in history, geography, and/or civics
- Exceptional communication and classroom management skills
- An interest in developing creative curricula in collaboration with colleagues
- A passion for getting to know students as people and supporting them beyond the classroom
- Candidates who can contribute to interdisciplinary programming, support experiential learning (e.g., trips, simulations, projects, extracurriculars), or teach electives may receive preference.
The salary range is $50,000-$68,000, depending on experience. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package. Faculty and staff whose children are enrolled at the school receive an automatic 50 percent discount on tuition (and additional tuition assistance may be available).
