Job Description
  • Act as the VCA goodwill ambassador to your peers on campus
  • Learn about specific rules and regulations for your college when it comes to a corporate campus presence
  • Serve as primary liaison between the student body and VCA Talent Acquisition Partner and hospital leadership teams
  • Provide answers and resources to inquiries from students about VCA’s summer job experiences, externships, new graduate mentorship programs (Primary Care and Emergency Care Tracks) internships, and careers after graduation
  • Assist in planning, organizing, and managing VCA recruiting events on campus by working with the VCA Student Talent Acquisition Partner and Specialty Talent Acquisition Partners
  • Arrange catering, room reservations and parking for VCA sponsored events
  • Communicate with the entire student body including interns and residents at your CVM to inform them of upcoming VCA events both on and off campus
  • Familiarize yourself with key campus contacts – deans, faculty, office of academic affairs and career counselors
  • Get to know the residents in the University Hospital (if applicable) and club officers including but not limited to SAVMA, VBMA, etc.
  • Willingness to participate in and provide content for our social media channels
Qualifications

Any students enrolled in AVMA accredited College of Veterinary Medicine. VCA Student Ambassadors are selected based on their past involvement with student associations, extracurricular activities, orientation toward small animal medicine, optimism about the future of veterinary medicine, communication skills, teamwork, and leadership skills. Prior VCA experience a plus but not a requirement.

Compensation

VCA pays each Student Ambassador (if your university allows compensation) an annual stipend of $1500 that is paid in two installments (generally in November and February). In addition to the annual stipend, we prioritize our VCA Student Ambassadors for any opportunities including a Summer Job Experience, Externship, and Post Graduate Careers. In addition, we will connect you with our Senior Director of Intern Development, Dr.

Odie Marcovici, and Intern Director(s) for those that are interested in pursuing an Internship.

Orientation

There will be a variety of onboarding activities that will provide the necessary information to the new VCA Student Ambassador. In some cases, this may require travel for the student and any travel costs will be covered by VCA.

Commitment

VCA Student Ambassadors have a commitment of one school year with the option to continue further if desired. Typical clinical year students do not continue in their role since they have time commitments with their rotations.
