Notice to applicants: This is a one-year, DCTA‑classified position with full benefits and school-based incentives. The year will count as one year toward non-probationary status if the teacher receives a rating of “Effective” or higher on the end‑of‑year LEAP evaluation. The teacher will be placed on the appropriate step and lane on the salary scale if able to secure a lead teaching position upon completion of the Associate Teacher role.

This Job

An associate teacher assists the lead teacher in the classroom by supporting lesson delivery, managing student activities, and helping with grading and assessments. They work closely with students to provide additional support and maintain a positive learning environment.

    Please note:

    You must submit all relevant documentation via onboarding before the deadline (15 days after receiving your offer letter) for salary setting purposes. Associate teachers’ annual salary is $48,350 for BA, $53,110 for MA, and $64,629 for PhD. Annual salaries are based on a 1488‑hour (186‑day) schedule.

What You’ll Do
  • One (1) year position only.
  • Operate as a lead teacher for up to 51% of the day, teaching appropriate grade‑level standards to diverse students, following school‑based curriculum expectations.
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives to students for lessons, units, and projects; present subject matter to students, individually and in groups, using various teaching methods and technology, and adjust teaching style and method to meet students’ learning styles.
  • Spend additional time operating as a teacher resident, participating in learning experiences to help growth and development.
  • Operate as a learner committed to increasing effectiveness as an instructional leader in the classroom.
What You’ll Need
  • Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field is required.
  • Have a valid Colorado Department of Education (CDE) teaching license.  for additional information regarding specific requirements and qualifications for the various subject areas (DPS does accept a CDE application receipt for 90 days).
  • Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high‑quality education.
  • Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us.
  • Have the ability with or without accommodations to meet the physical demands of the position.
