- Assist the RELATE Director in continuing to develop, maintain, and carry out a variety of undergraduate STEM retention, community building, and professional development initiatives and activities for students to support retention to graduation through programs, support, and services.
- Program components include affinity professional organizations, Academic Excellence Workshop (AEW) Calculus courses, weekly seminars (classes), workshops (professional development, resume writing, time management, etc.), faculty and industry connections, discussion groups, advocacy, and general support, etc.
- Administrative Support
- Support the Director in logistical aspects of meetings and/or presentations including scheduling rooms, facilitators, printing materials, coordinating registration, etc.
- General Inclusivity Work – Contribute to other division and unit inclusive initiatives as needed.
- Supervision – Help supervise Peer Leaders.
- Advising– Provide guidance for scholars’ college, community, and academic experience.
- General Responsibilities
- Attend appropriate E-STEM, NSM, and RSECS staff and/or other meetings related to responsibilities.
- Collaborate with other departments and offices on campus as needed and help develop new partnerships.
- Demonstrate an ongoing commitment to the principles of inclusivity and broadening participation in STEM disciplines through programming, campus collaborations, and participation in DU Inclusive Excellence initiatives.
- Demonstrated commitment to inclusivity and broadening participation in STEM fields.
- Ability to effectively communicate and work collaboratively with students, parents, staff, faculty, department staff, and community members.
- Excellent organizational, planning, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Demonstrate ability to work independently and as a team member.
- A basic technical understanding of databases and information systems is highly desirable. Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Access, Excel, and Publisher) is essential.
- Available to work some evenings and weekends.
- Curiosity and willingness to learn, explore, and process reflections for personal and professional growth.
- Experience working with an undergraduate STEM program would be an asset.
- Current DU undergraduate or graduate student enrolled through Spring 2027.
- Ability to initiate work and prioritize action items.
- Confidence in presenting and coordinating programs.
- Experience with public speaking and group facilitation, especially on topics relating to DEI, social justice, and the STEM fields.
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to conduct 1:1 meetings with students
- Interest in or experience with assessment and/or evaluation methods.
- Interest in or experience with college success programs.
- 50% 0pen-office environment, 50% public and event setting within RSECS and NSM.
- Unexpected interruptions often occur, and stress level is moderate.
- Noise level is quiet to moderate.
- Ability to sit in front of a computer for an extended period.
- Required to move about the office/campus daily or several time per week.
- Capability of transporting objects up to 20 lbs.
