Elementary School Teacher: Elementary School Teachers foster foundational skills in reading, math, science, and social studies for students in grades K-5. - Help all students develop competence and confidence simultaneously through a balance of acquiring basic skills and developing conceptual understanding.
- Monitor, supervise, coordinate and enforce the rules of conduct and behavior for assigned students, and reinforce positive student behaviors in accordance with school and District policy.
- Observe, evaluate, report and record students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
- Communicate with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve students behavioral and academic problems.
- Prepare educational course outlines, objectives and materials according to curriculum guidelines or state and local requirements.
- Present subject matter to students, using various teaching methods and technology, adjusting teaching style and method to meet student learning style.
- May participate in extra-duty activities as outlined in the teachers' collective bargaining agreement. This may include coaching, tutoring, or summer programs in compliance with Department of Labor requirements.
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field required. A Master’s Degree is not required for all roles; it is required for Concurrent Enrollment positions.
- Have a valid Colorado Department of Education (CDE) teaching license. Additional information regarding requirements for various subject areas is available; DPS accepts a CDE Application Receipt for 90 days.
