Job DescriptionThe special education paraprofessional is a key stakeholder on the Special Education team and is a champion for children with disabilities. This individual will provide individualized academic and behavioral support for students with mild to moderate disabilities and is responsible for supporting the implementation of Individualized Educational Plans, Behavior Improvement Plans, and individual support plans with fidelity. The special education paraprofessional will support children in decreasing maladaptive behaviors and increasing self‑advocacy and self‑regulation strategies.
As a member of the Exceptional Student Services team, this individual will collaborate with multiple stakeholders and teams and will be directly supervised by the Director of Special Education.
- Provide individualized, highly targeted behavioral and academic support for students with mild to moderate disabilities across a variety of settings, including General Education classes, small groups, and unstructured times, such as lunch and recess
- Support in the design of individualized support plans
- Implement Individualized Education Plans, Behavior Improvement Plans, and individualized support plans
- Track and collect student data on an on‑going basis
- Collaborate with the General Education and Special Education teams to design individualized support plans
- Participate in regular meetings regarding student progress and needs
- Directly support students with self‑regulation and coping strategies during times of stress or frustration including scheduled regulation breaks
- Regularly communicate with families, special service providers, and Vega staff
- Resolute belief in high expectations for all students

- Ability to uphold strong routines, structure, and individual support plans with absolute fidelity

- Bachelor’s Degree
- Second language skills
- Experience in urban, public schools
Vega Collegiate Academy offers a competitive salary and comprehensive health benefits package. Salary range for this position is $30,000 - $60,000
