Department of Secondary Education, K-12 Education and Educational Technology

By applying to this posting, qualified applicants will be placed into a department pool and considered for part-time departmental needs on an as-needed basis. The number of these temporary, part-time non-tenure track academic positions varies from semester to semester, depending on the needs of the program. Not everyone in the applicant pool will be contacted or selected to teach.

Position Summary

The Department of Secondary Education, K-12 Education and Educational Technology at Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSU Denver) invites applications for part-time affiliate faculty teaching positions. This listing is for potential future needs for part-time affiliate instructors of Educational Technology.

MSU Denver enrolls over 17,000 students, with nearly 60% first-generation students and over 55% students of color. Located in downtown Denver, we are a designated Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI), a ten-time recipient of the INSIGHT into Diversity Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award, and the only Seal of Excelencia certified institution in Colorado. We are particularly interested in applicants with experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and a demonstrated commitment to improving access to higher education for underrepresented groups.

Responsibilities

Teach 1-9 credit hours per semester, be available for student consultation, and deliver undergraduate educational technology classes designed for P-12 teacher licensure programs. Responsibilities include teaching courses for secondary, elementary, special, and early childhood education programs, possibly including online classes and supervising internships for Instructional Design and Technology programs.

Additional duties include preparing course materials, grading, providing feedback, advising students, and supporting students academically in person or online. Candidates should be adaptable to different modes of instruction and sensitive to the needs of a diverse student body.

Required Qualifications

ABD or completed Doctorate in Educational Technology, Instructional Design & Technology, or related fields.

Preferred Qualifications

  • K-12 teaching experience

Terms of Employment

Part-time, at-will employment on a per-credit-hour basis, usually semester-by-semester. No benefits are provided. Candidates should be prepared to teach in person upon hire.
