The Department of Social Work at MSU Denver invites applications for affiliate faculty teaching positions. We are seeking part-time, Social Work Affiliate Instructors in all content areas across the curriculum as they relate to Social Work. All affiliate faculty in the department of social work will work with a Lead Faculty and participate in a content teaching team. When affiliate faculty are needed, they should expect to teach one to two courses each semester, with a maximum of three courses per semester.

ResponsibilitiesAn affiliate faculty member’s duties may include but are not limited to:
- Teaching assigned classes in person or online, delivering course content to students
- Preparing course materials and lesson plans
- Grading student work and providing timely, constructive feedback
- Addressing student questions in accordance with university, college/school, and department policies
- Providing online or in-person academic support as needed for the teaching assignment
- Ensuring instruction aligns with the content and learning objectives of the regular course syllabus; adhering to department course coordination policies as required
- Complying with university-wide student evaluation of instruction policies and peer observation policies
- Adapting to new modes of instruction; being sensitive to the educational needs of a diverse student population
- Master’s in Social Work from a CSWE-accredited program
- Minimum of two years of relevant post-MS W experience for teaching practice courses
- Minimum of five years of relevant post-MS W experience for teaching field seminar courses
- MSW degree from a CSWE-accredited institution
- Five years of relevant post-MS W or related master’s degree experience
- PhD or ABD with doctoral level coursework in one or more content areas
- Two years of teaching experience relevant to one or more content areas
- Experience teaching online
- Experience working with diverse, historically underrepresented and/or first-generation college students
Affiliate faculty are part-time, at-will employees hired to teach on a per credit hour basis for specific classes, usually on a semester-by-semester basis. They are not eligible for University benefit coverage. All assignments depend on budget and enrollment. Qualified candidates are expected to teach in person on campus upon hire.
SalaryThe final salary is based on the number of credit hours assigned at a rate determined by university policy. For more information, see the Affiliate-Rates doc under the College of Health and Human Sciences.
