Status & Classification: Seasonal | Part-Time | Non-Exempt

Compensation & Schedule

Payrate: $19.30/hour

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 5:15pm (approx. 30 hours/week). Schedule may be flexible with variable hours based on After Care enrollments.

Summary

Summer Camp Counselors will assist in planning and leading small and large groups in a variety of aviation/aerospace/STEAM focused programs, games, and lunch activities. They will provide a high level of fun, positive communication, and safety for children ages 8 – 12. This position may be based at one or both Museum locations for the Wings Summer Camp program. Summer Camp Counselors are members of the Education department who work closely with Summer Camp Instructors, the Education Program Manager, Education Program Coordinator, and report directly to the Director of Education.

Wings Over the Rockies is a nonprofit dedicated to unlocking dreams of flight through exhibits, events, and educational programming. The Museum serves as Colorado’s official Air & Space Museum with a diverse array of exhibits and experiences. Wings is committed to diversity, inclusion, and accessibility. Exploration of Flight (EoF) is our flight-focused educational extension at Centennial Airport, offering aviation immersion programs and related activities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a positive and fun attitude through courtesy, service, cooperation, sensitivity, and professionalism to all campers, families, and staff
  • Greet families at the door and assist with daily sign-in/out of campers
  • Interact with campers and engage them in camp activities
  • Supervise young children
  • Help with activity set-up and clean-up
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment
  • Supervise daily lunch and snack time
  • Understand camper/participant needs including any health, behavioral, and/or disability specific medical conditions
  • Attend all mandatory Wings staff trainings
Working Conditions

The Air & Space Museum operates within an 80-year-old aircraft hangar. Exploration of Flight is located at a busy regional airport. Environmental conditions may vary.

Requirements
  • Must work the entirety of the 2026 Summer Camp season (May 23 through August 14, 2026)
  • Must be at least sixteen (16+) years of age or older
  • Counselors will need a background check if they are 18 (fingerprinting)
  • Reliable transportation and on-time arrival for all work shifts
  • Wear approved uniforms and camp t-shirts
  • Self-motivated and energetic
  • Able to communicate clearly and positively with campers
  • Comfortable working independently and in team settings
  • Able to work with and assist with campers ranging from 8 – 12 years old
  • Ability to deal professionally and sensitively with a diverse audience
  • Commitment to program diversity and inclusion
  • Able to lift, pull, or carry at least 30 lbs
  • Must be CPR/First Aid certified or attend Wings-sponsored CPR training prior to the first day of camp
