Job Title:
Early Childhood Special Education Teacher. Multiple positions available.
Location:
1860 Lincoln Street, Denver, CO 80203. Minimum Salary: $55,257 with standard benefits.
- Follow DPS curriculum to instruct students. The duties will be performed at the elementary school level.
- Help all students develop competence and confidence through balancing acquiring basic skills and conceptual understanding.
- Plan, evaluate, and assign lessons for elementary school special education classes using various teaching methods, including lecture, demonstration, and the use of audio-visual aids.
- Prepare lessons and promote classroom discussions and activities to increase understanding of lessons.
- Prepare and administer tests to evaluate progress, record results, and issue reports of progress.
- Maintain classroom discipline. Monitor, supervise, coordinate, and enforce rules of conduct and behavior for assigned students, and reinforce positive student behaviors in accordance with school and District policies.
- Observe, evaluate, report, and record students’ performance, behavior, social development, and physical health, and provide assistance in areas in which students need additional help.
- Demonstrate familiarity and adherence to the District’s Mission and Goals, while completing, maintaining, and submitting accurate records, forms, and reports punctually, as required.
- Communicate with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve students’ academic progress or behavioral problems.
- May participate in extra-duty activities as outlined in the teachers’ collective bargaining agreement.
Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Education, Early Childhood Special Education, or related. Must possess a valid State of Colorado teacher license with an appropriate endorsement in Early Childhood Special Education Specialist (0–8), or ability to obtain.
