Overview

Rocky Mountain Prep is a movement of educators, families, scholars, and advocates changing the face of public education in Colorado by democratizing college access and preparation for historically marginalized students and families. We operate a network of twelve college preparatory charter schools in the Denver metro area serving students from early childhood through high school.

Each member of the organization plays a part in achieving these goals. School-based staff members work toward metrics aligned to their roles and the Big 5, with metrics varying by position and subject to change.

In This Role You Will
  • Complete Responsible Assessment and Intervention Practices in Special Education and Section 504
  • Con conduct valid, fair, and legally defensible evaluations for Special Education and Section 504 eligibility, including students in center-based programming; a school social worker performs assessments for social-emotional-behavioral, adaptive, and other needs; a school psychologist performs cognitive, executive functioning, social-emotional-behavioral, adaptive, and other assessments
  • Administer and interpret findings to identify student needs and develop appropriate interventions and services through IEP programming
  • Attend and contribute to IEP meetings as appropriate; present results in clear terms to diverse audiences (e.g., parents, students, staff, community) to support informed choices
  • Assist with the implementation and monitoring of IEPs and 504 Plans
  • (If applicable) Collaborate with and provide consultation to the center team to address students’ social-emotional needs
  • Tiered Model of School Mental Health Interventions, Services and Supports
  • Provide direct and indirect special education services based on IEPs and mental health services based on Section 504s for students across LREs
  • Participate in a team approach on Functional Behavior Assessments and Behavior Intervention Plans; design, implement, and monitor services and intervention plans
  • Use skill-building strategies in small groups or individual settings to teach self-regulation, planning/organization, impulse control, empathy, and healthy decision-making
  • Design, implement, monitor, and adapt student responses to research-based interventions for targeted needs
  • Follow protocol for counseling services for General Education/MTSS students that aligns with district/STRIVE expectations
  • Collaborate with families and community providers to develop intervention plans and action steps
  • Work with other school personnel to provide a range of services supporting academic, social, emotional, and behavioral goals
  • Take lead on filing for truancy contempt and implementing court orders
  • Preventative and Responsive Crisis Services
  • Collaborate with school personnel, parents, students, and community resources to provide competent mental health support during and after crises and follow network procedures
  • Conduct suicide risk review and self-harm protocols according to training and best practices, including informing parents and providing referrals
  • Participate in threat response processes according to training
  • Offer families resources and referrals and assist navigating community services
Requirements
  • Must Haves

  • Training and experience in restorative and trauma-informed approaches
  • A commitment to the social-emotional well-being of all scholars and the school culture
  • Experience working with historically marginalized communities

Salary

This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position with a salary range of $75,000–$87,000.
