Job Title:
ELA-S ESL Resource Secondary Teacher. Multiple Positions Available.
Location:
1860 Lincoln Street, Denver, CO 80203. Minimum Salary: $57,666 with standard benefits. Expires on February 14, 2026.
- Follow DPS curriculum to instruct students.
- Help all students develop competence and confidence simultaneously through a balance of acquiring basic skills and conceptual understanding.
- Plan, evaluate, and assign lessons for secondary school classes using various teaching methods, including lecture, demonstration, and the use of audio-visual aides.
- Prepare lessons and promote classroom discussions and activities to increase understanding of lessons.
- Prepare and administer tests to evaluate progress, record results, and issue reports of progress.
- Maintain classroom discipline.
- Monitor, supervise, coordinate, and enforce rules of conduct and behavior for assigned students, and reinforce positive student behaviors in accordance with school and District policies.
- Observe, evaluate, report, and record students’ performance, behavior, social development, and physical health, and provide assistance in areas in which students need additional help.
- Demonstrate familiarity and adherence to the District’s Mission and Goals, while completing, maintaining, and submitting accurate records, forms and reports punctually, as required.
- Communicate with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve students’ academic progress or behavioral problems.
- May participate in extra-duty activities as outlined in the teachers’ collective bargaining agreement.
- Ability to speak, read, and write in both Spanish and English is inherent to the position.
- Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Education, Modern Languages, or related.
- Must possess a valid Colorado Department of Education Teacher’s License with appropriate endorsement in Spanish (K-12) or Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education (K-12), or ability to obtain.
- Ability to speak, read, and write both in English and Spanish.
