Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to work both independently and in team settings.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, using legal research tools (Westlaw, Lexis/Nexis, etc.), and a knowledge of legal citation.
  • Excellent organizational, problem solving, and analytical skills required.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines

Required Qualifications:

  • Current student of the Sturm College of Law.
  • Availability between February 1 and March 15, 2026

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience researching, writing, or editing legal scholarship or scholarship in other disciplines, or editing experience in other contexts
  • Previous experience on a journal, especially as an article selection editor
  • Diversity of subject matter interest and experience among the FSA cohort
  • Experience as an FSA in a prior year
  • Standard office environment
  • Unexpected interruptions occur occasionally
  • Stress level is moderate
  • Noise level is quiet to moderate

Physical

Activities:

  • Ability to sit in front of a computer for an extended period
  • Occasionally required to move about the office/campus with the capability of transporting objects up to 20 lbs.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • This position does not require a work-study award.
  • Students will be paid minimum wage and work up to 10 hours per week.
  • In compliance with Colorado’s Healthy Families and Workplaces Act (HFWA), non-benefited employees accrue one hour of paid leave for every 30 hours worked up to a maximum of 48 hours per year.
  • In addition to hourly compensation at the standard SCOL rate, benefits to FSAs include exposure to cutting-edge legal research, learning about the law review publication process from the author perspective, engaging substantively with SCOL professors about their research, and gaining insight into legal academia.
